The Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW)

By Brooke Kuecker

Established in 1914, the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW lives by the motto, “Honor the dead by helping the living.” Serving veterans and the community in the name of all those who have served in uniform, the organization’s 550,000 members engage in a variety of service projects, including hospital volunteerism, youth activities, and cancer aid and research. The Ladies Auxiliary also serves as a liaison between members and legislators, advocating for concerns relating to veterans and their families.

The Ladies Auxiliary offers a variety of benefits to its members, including travel programs, insurance plans, home shopping programs, medical support, and the Cancer Grant program, widely regarded as its highlight benefit that provides support to members who must undergo cancer treatment.

The Ladies Auxiliary’s mid-year conference for 2012 will be held at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort in Honolulu.
